Fully funded: PhD Scholarships Climate Change & Sustainability Education Step By Step

Introduction

The University of Zambia (UNZA), in collaboration with the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and FAO, is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for Ph.D. Scholarships in Climate Change & Sustainability Education for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This opportunity is part of the FACILITY FOR ACTION FOR CLIMATE EMPOWERMENT TO ACHIEVE NATIONALLY DETERMINED CONTRIBUTION (FACE-NDC) PROJECT, spanning from 2023 to 2030.

Scholarship Details:

  • Level of Study: Ph.D.
  • Number of Scholarships: Three (3)
  • Mode of Study: Full-Time
  • Commencement Date: February, 2024
  • Duration: Three Years
  • Programme: Climate Change & Sustainability Education

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to Environmental Education, Climate Change, Geography, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, GIS, ICT and Programming, Psychology-Sociology-Philosophy, Science Education, Curriculum, or a related field from a recognized university.
  2. Possess a Master’s Degree in a field related to climate change, Environmental Education, Geography, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, GIS, ICT and Programming, Teacher Education, Educational Administration and Policy, Psychology-Sociology-Philosophy, Science Education, Curriculum, or a related field from a recognized University.
  3. Be a Zambian citizen with a valid National Registration Card.
  4. Demonstrate willingness to participate in activities related to the FACE – NDC Project and engage in teaching.
  5. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Coverage:

The scholarship will cover:

  • Tuition fees for three years
  • Monthly stipend
  • Book allowances
  • Funding for field research activities

Application and Selection Process:

Applicants are required to submit their CVs and a cover letter explaining their interest in being awarded the scholarship under the FACE-NDC Project. The selection process includes shortlisting, an aptitude test, and oral interviews for the final six applicants. The last six shortlisted candidates will undergo a mini-training and be assigned to prepare research proposals. The top three finalists will be selected based on the quality of the final proposals developed.
