We are actively seeking a highly motivated and ambitious candidate to embark on a project within the realm of photoinduced transition-metal catalysis for enantioselective C-H functionalizations. The primary focus of this project will revolve around the methodology development of novel reactions in this specialized field.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake organic synthesis of starting materials and reagents.
  • Develop and optimize novel organic reactions with a particular emphasis on photoinduced transition-metal catalysis.
  • Conduct comprehensive substrate scope investigations, including the isolation and characterization of products.
  • Undertake a four-month stay at AstraZeneca, benefiting from exposure to both academic and industrial supervisors.
  • Work independently while actively participating in collaborative efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a two-year master’s degree (equivalent to 120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with academic qualifications matching a two-year master’s degree.
  • Hold a degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with a robust background in experimental organic chemistry.
  • While experience with method development and catalysis is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and actively contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Possess strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
